Hello my name is Adam Mackenzie I’am from a small community called Behchoko Northwest territories and this summer I will not be in Behchoko or in the N.W.T. This summer I’am a participant of a program called Northern Youth Abroad and I’m happy to be one. The staff of NYA is great and has placed me in Ottawa this summer. Ottawa is a great city where there is a lot of history here with great sites to see and explore. So far I have bought some new things for back home which I’d have to say I do miss but not that much. As time goes by I think about how lucky I am to be here and made many new friends from across the north and here in Ottawa.. Once I got on the plane from Yellowknife to Ottawa I was a bit nervous but not scared because I knew I would have a good time and I am. Being part of this program I am learning new things along the way. Also being placed in Ottawa is awesome and great because of my host Family the Sadlers and my work placement. As time went by it was not easy at first but I overcame it and now I’m doing better. The first thing I found hard getting use to was the Ontario heat back home it’s not this hot as it is here but I finally gotten used to it. My job is ok and my boss is cool. Same goes for my host family. I hope all goes well for me and the other participants. Thank you NYA for choosing me to be here this summer and I wuld love to do this again someday.
