Dumela everyone on the other side of this beautiful earth!
I miss my Dino. (My stuffed animal)
Yeah, Amber Eleehetook here enjoying every bit of my entire time out here in this dry, COLD, hot, beautiful weather. First of all, I would like to recommend everyone that is in the Canadian phase to apply for this amazing experience. Anyone that is reading this…you wouldn’t believe how different life is on this side. You can go from hand washing your clothing, walking every day, eating different food, meeting new people, looking at completely different lifestyles, to living with 7 other great people. And many more! So far, everything is going by smoothly, The Plane ride was ok, I can say. Six hours in a plane is not that bad. London England was awesome, got to see the Buckingham Palace, the beautiful place where Prince William and Kate Middleton got married. After that awesome tour, we were off to South Africa! The plane ride was so much longer. But yeah we all made it the whole way through. Waited in South Africa for eight hours, that was the whole start of African food, totally different taste!!!! I thought It was gross at first, but then I sucked it up and ate everything I could. Ha-Ha-Ha-HA. Then finally we were in a 2 hour ride to GABORONE! Felt so good, knowing we weren’t going on anymore plane rides, sleeping on the little seats for a long period of time. We stayed at the university which was fun, roomed with, my one and only Cyre Yukon! It was like we were at home, when we got settled in. Everything was unpacked, comfortable, and good. Oh, and I was the first one to take a shower in AFRICA from everyone that’s here. Had orientation with WUSC (World University Service of Canada) every day we would go eat at this place and OMGI loved the food…CHICKEN!!! J muah-ha-ha. And yeah here we are in Ramotswa, Botswana! Amazing place to be placed! On our way to our house, Cara and Murina of course made me believed that we had a crazy swimming pool, haha that really got me. But yeah whatever I was expected to see..is what I am looking at now, a house full of happiness. Doing laundry with our hands, drying them up (Going hardcore Green) Our workplace is awesome, everyone there is so talkative, active and everything! We were invited to a 3 day wedding! Oh my god, its so crazy how the tradition of getting married here is! I someday will get married here, honestly! Just this weekend we spent the weekend with the youth that we are working with. I stayed with Lily, ya know how the Equator is changed right now? Like its “winter” here and summer over there…Lily had 5 thick blankets! Man it was so good to get up not frozen lol . I really don’t know what else to say..this is random because I am tired, and its Sunday! Lol I love my group, my host community, my host everything. Its so amazing how I am in Africa..because this is my dream..to have many different opportunities to travel and get to see different things that are all over here! Yeah just want to say..life is awesome and you know you have so many things like this to do. Its easy, just keep your head up and keep smiling..someday you’ll be in this country! ITS AWFULLY AMAZING! Thanks NORTHERN YOUTH ABROAD, you honestly brighten up my cold mornings here! Shane, Cara, Murina, Cyre, Kyra, Jacob and of course Brain. You all are awesome to live with. Random but rela kuu! HELLO CANADIAN PHASE PEOPLE! <3
Sincerely
Amber Eleehetook
