I was so excited to head to Ottawa that I couldn’t get any proper sleep; I was always going to sleep in the late mornings and getting up in the afternoon. Then June 30 came and it was the day for me to leave home for eight weeks. I thought I wasn’t going to go, because the weather was so horribly foggy and when it was time for the plane to get in, they couldn’t land on the first try, so half an hour later or so it finally came to a land. So, I waited for the fuel up, just chatting around with the family as well and when it was time to board, I hugged and kissed the kids and my sister and my parents as well and told them I will see you all in eight weeks. It was a sad moment, but I got on the flight ant got through with it. I was happy to get on this flight for the greatest experience of my entire life.
Getting into Yellowknife was alright, but I had nothing to do, because my cousin was busy and I just stuck around the hotel and checked out face book. It was great to meet the participants over a Boston Pizza dinner, but I couldn’t get to hang out with my cousin once again, but I got to go watch a movie in theatre.
We got to Ottawa the next day and it was great to see the city sights again, when we got to camp there were a lot of other participants there to greet us and some we know who was with us the past years as a Canadian Participant. The camp was a blast, I’m so happy I got to know everyone of the participants, their great people, even though some days were a bit difficult, but I got through it and went on with the day. Then the day came to say good-bye to the Canadian participants and get ready for travel to London, England.
The day we leave Canada for five weeks, it was amazing to go to London and see some nice sites at the Buckingham Palace and other sites, but it was too bad we didn’t get a tour of the whole place on the Double Decker Buses. It was sad, but we got to walk around anyways and get a chance to eat some London food.
After London, we were heading to Johannesburg, Botswana in Southern Africa. It was great to read my book and watch some new movies and get some sleep as well. When it was about time to land, the captain said that we will be landing in five minutes or so and so I woke up and looked out the window; I was shocked to see that it was so beautiful! When we landed it was a bit chilly, but great as well.
Spending a few nights with the other group gave us a chance to really get along well and have some laughs before the real work started, it’s hot during the days and cold during the nights/mornings but I like it, heading to Shakawe, Botswana in Southern Africa was very amazing. Now that were here in Shakawe, it is so great to see a cultural difference and money difference and especially the food. The people here are beautiful, their culture is amazing and it’s great to take some challenges to get a better chance with your own life before your big plans ahead of you. I was happy to do a camping trip to the Tsodilo Hills and doing some volunteer work here where we are staying and I cannot wait to go on the Safari! My best wishes to the future International Participants!
