Hi, as you know my name is Ooleesee Akeeagok, im from a small community of 140-150 people, and its called Grise Fiord. But this summer I am living in Stratford, its like 10 mins away from Charlottetown , and there are about 14000.
I work in Stratford Town Hall, im doing a kids day camp, from ages 7-12, there are about 12-17 kids a week, some Kids stayed all summer and some just for 1 week, and new kids come every week, they are sweet and kind. We also have diffrent themes every week. During Friday we go to a place called "The Cotton Center" for the morning and the afternoons we have day trips, first week we went to an historic house that was built in 1877, then the second week we went to the Cari Pool, and the third week we went to a boat/bus called the Harbour Hippo, and I didnt get to go on the 4th trip but the kids went bowling. The kids ask a lot of questions about the North such as "Does santa live near you?" and ask if I ever saw the elves and if I get presents from Santa and a lot of questions about the animals, and they were suprised about how big the animals can be.
My Host parents are awesome, They brought us everywhere. We went shopping the first 2 days here, and went to a lot of beaches, and we went to Nova Scotia for the weekend, When we got off the Ferry few mins later we saw a deer that got hit by a car and the car was smashed. It took us an hour and a half to get to Halifax, but once we arrived we did some shopping there, and we went to go watch the Buskers and they were doing alot of neat things, I saw one guy who was juggling 3 knives, and we met up with Tylie, Scott and Napolean. After that we picked up Nadine and we went to a zoo,We saw some Tigers, and Panthers and alot of other animals. We also got to feel the black bear, which was pretty neat and fed some goats and deers. We drove all the way from Nova Scotia to PEI it took us 6 hours.
PEI is soo beautiful!, I love the beaches and how its not too loud and not too quiet where I live, Also alot of kind people live here.
But Anyways, I would like to thank all the staff for giving me this great opportunity. And especially my placement buddy Cait for helping me out soo much and letting me finish this program :).
If it wasn't for you NYA staff I wouldn't be having this wonderful summer! :) and once again Thanks :)
